Teen Program Coordinator: Betina Fink

For teens 13–18 and youths 9–12
Program Coordinator: Betina Fink
Faculty: Master Teaching Artists from The Drawing Studio

Begun as an extension of our Art of Summer intensive program for teens, the school-year program now includes classes and workshops in a variety of media. TDS teaching artists guide students in learning to observe accurately and offer students the opportunity to devise creative “problems” and solve them in multiple ways. We offer separate sections for youth 9-12 and teens 13-18 all taught by TDS master teaching artists.

The Art of Summer provides up to 80 hours of studio instructional time, to allow for in-depth investigation and practice. Returning students can pursue intense week-long studies in intensives of their choice. Field trips to local museums and galleries, as well as visiting artist to the studio are included. A special junior immersion experience is now offered for youths 9-12!

Drawing What You See

Summer Fun to Come…

TDS has built a reputation over 15 years as Tucson’s studio practice heartbeat.  Now entering its seventh season, The Art of Summer Intensive for Teens, ages 13-18, will take place in Summer 2008 in our new and greatly expanded studio.  From steel welding to oil painting, you can satisfy your visual curiosities and learn and practice new skills. Also, for the first time, we will offer an immersion experience for youth, ages 9-12.  Whether your aim is to become a professional artist, or to simply “make stuff,” the Art of Summer will strengthen your visual brainpower.

For more information about any of our youth offerings, please contact Betina Fink, youth@thedrawingstudio.org or 620-0947.
