and Staff 2008 ~Janice Angevine von Isser, BSN and graduate studies in Scientific Illustration, Univ. of Arizona: TDS Founding Board member and served as Board Secretary and Gallery Committee Chair; experienced in watercolor, printmaking & graphic design, teaches monoprint. ~Mariana Carreras, BFA, MFA, George Washington University: An oil painter who has exhibited in Europe and Latin America, is Lead Art Faculty at PCC Downtown Campus, and often lectures at TMA on a variety of topics related to art. ~Cristina Cardenas, BA, Univ. of Guadalajara; MFA, Univ. of AZ: has taught and exhibited for more than 20 years. Recipient of Lila Wallace, Westaf, and NEA fellowships; recently an invited artist in an ASU-sponsored exhibition of Chicano prints in Bielefeld, Germany. ~Katie Cooper, BA, MFA/Painting, School of Visual Arts, NYC; 12 years’ experience teaching in art residencies and supervising regional community art projects; has exhibited widely over 30 years in Colorado, New York, and Arizona. ~Rick Demont, BFA, Univ. of AZ: a landscape painter for over 30 years and an early student of Bruce McGrew; member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Honorary Member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild; early resident of Rancho Linda Vista. ~Betina Fink, BA, MFA: Oil painter exhibiting and in collections nationally and in Europe. Adult and youth art educator with over 15 years experience. TDS Program Coordinator and Instructor, Art of Summer. Teaches oil painting, pastel drawing and color theory at TDS. ~Carolyn Gibbs, BFA, Commercial Design, Univ. of AZ: background in psychology and marketing; TDS Board member and open studio monitor, teaches figure drawing and abstract painting. ~Josh Goldberg, BFA, MA, Asian Studies and Art History, Mich. State: Active Arizona artist and art educator since 1990, exhibiting at UA, Davis Dominguez Gallery, teaches abstract painting. ~Ben Ilka teaches both adults and youth at TDS and is also a TDS Associate, freelance illustrator, and graphic designer. His narrative drawing (‘zines, comic books) can be seen at www.madseadog.com. ~Susan Johnson, BFA, MFA, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago: extensive experience teaching figure drawing, painting, and sculpture, including in Italy; represented in many exhibitions and collections, and commissioned works for movies, opera, and the mural at University and 9th Ave; founder of the All Souls’ Procession. ~Pat Marohn, BFA, Syracuse U: Former Director of the Tubac Center of the Arts; taught for PCC in painting, drawing and design. An exhibiting member of the Collage Association of Southern AZ, and a member of SAWG. ~Joe Marshall is a printmaker, cartoonist, and illustrator; his self-published comics can be seen at www.planetnameddesire.com. ~Joy Mills, MFA, Univ. of AZ: has specialized in sumi-e for over 20 years and studied with acclaimed sumi-e instructors and masters from the US and Japan; taught regularly at Pima College as well as for the Desert Museum and the Chinese Cultural Center. ~ Lisa Mishler studied media arts and photography before pursuing a 20 year career as an interior designer and now a fulltime working artist. She has studied with several TDS teaching artists, is a signature member of SAWG, and regularly exhibits her work regionally and nationally. ~ Rebecca Olson is the Open Studio and Model Coordinator for TDS; she has practiced figure drawing religiously for 20 years. ~Sam Patania is a third generation metalsmith from the internationally renowned Patania family, which settled in Tucson in 1937. He began his apprenticeship at the Thunderbird Shop at the age of 10; his work, along with that of his father and grandfather, is in the Smithsonian. ~Deborah
Steinberg, BA, Univ. of Minnesota: oil painter and illustrator; has
taught pastel, oil painting, drawing, and portraiture.
