How You Can
Help
TDS
1. Become an Associate
The Drawing Studio depends on support from a variety of sources, and particularly on Associate Program membership. Through annual dues, Associates help us spread our message about the relationship between studio art practice and visual thinking.
Spread the word! Do you know someone who would love to tap into their creative self by taking a drawing or painting class at TDS? Our Associates receive discounts on classes and other benefits such as invitations to exhibitions and special events, guest passes to classes, opportunities to exhibit, and merchant discounts. 2. Make a Gift to The Drawing Studio
We pride ourselves on our ability to generate income through our activities. However, keeping our educational offerings affordable and accessible to everyone means that we depend on individuals, foundations, and businesses to contribute to our operations. These gifts take several forms: tickets and sponsorships for special events, gifts to the Annual Fund, bequests and remembrances, and the like. We are currently working to raise additional funds to implement changes in the building plan required by the City.

3. Become a Volunteer
Since its beginning in 1992, The Drawing Studio has been, and still is, primarily volunteer-driven. In the most recently completed fiscal year (06/07), 130 volunteers contributed almost 10,000 hours to The Drawing Studio.
Volunteers serve in a variety of capacities. They serve on the Board and on committees. They act as gallery docents, five hours a day, five days a week. They design, organize, and staff exhibitions, openings, and special events. They act as art coaches, assisting youth to participate in art activities. They tutor seniors in assisted living who have no access to our main studio or satellite sites. They donate their artwork for our fundraisers and to more than 40 other nonprofit organizations that provide social services and arts/culture programming in our community. They serve as monitors for our four weekly open studio drawing sessions and managers of our dedicated clay and printmaking studios. They fundraise, refer, and communicate with our various constituencies. They help produce our newsletters, write letters, and send emails. They provide repair, remodeling, and construction services for our building. They clean, paint (walls, in addition to canvases), sew, and cook.
In conjunction with our move to a much larger space, we need additional volunteer assistance in a number of areas. Read more about volunteering.
